Sự khác nhau giữa “used to” và “ be/ get used to”
+ Used to + V: thường làm gì (trong quá khứ không còn ở hiện tại)
+Be used to + Ving: chỉ thói quen ở hiện tại
 Get used to + V- ing: trở nên quen với việc gì
Eg: I am used to getting up early in the morning. Tôi đã quen với việc dạy sớm

 Câu mệnh lệnh, đề nghị và lời khuyên trong câu gián tiếp
-Thuật lại nguyên văn của người nói, không sửa đổi lời văn.
Eg: He said, “Will you come to my party tonight”
He invited me to come to his party that night ( lời nói gián tiếp không có dấu hai chấm và dấu ngoặc kép)
Khi chuyển từ câu mệnh lệnh, đề nghị, lời khuyên từ trực tiếp sang câu gián tiếp, chúng ta dùng động từ giới thiệu : ask ( yêu cầu), told ( bảo), adviced ( khuyên)..
-Thay đổi các đại từ nhân xưng, tính từ sở hữu

1.Câu mệnh lệnh, câu đề nghị( commands, requests):
 S + told/ asked + (O) + (not) + to + V.
Eg: He said: “Don’t sit there, please”.
He told (us) not to sit there.
-Eg:“Can you open the doctor, please”?
 He asked ( me) to open the doctor .
2.Lời khuyên ( advice):
 S + advised + ( O ) + ( not ) + to V
Eg: “You should do exercise in the morning”, the doctor said.
The doctor advised me to do exercise in the morning. Bác sĩ khuyên tôi nên tập thể dục vào buổi sáng.
II.ADVERBS OF MENNER: Trạng từ chỉ cách thức:
-Trạng từ chỉ cách thức dùng để diễn tả một hành động được thực hiện như thế nào. Thường dùng để trả lời cho câu hỏi “ How”
Eg:She cooks well.
1.Cách thành lập:
Hầu hết các trạng từ chỉ cách thức được thành lập bằng cách thêm đuôi “ly” vào sau tính từ:
 Adj+ ly
Eg:quick- quickly
slow - slowly
+Những tính từ kết thúc bằng “phụ âm + y”, chúng ta chuyển “y” thành “i” và thêm đuôi “ly”
Happy- happily
+Những tính từ kết thúc bằng “ble’ và “ple” ta bỏ “e” và thêm “y”
Eg:capable- capably
Simple- simply
+Một số trường hợp đặc biệt:
Good – well
 Fast- fast
Hard- hard
Late- late
Cách dùng
a.Dùng tính từ trước một danh từ để mô tả cho danh từ từ đó
Eg:This is a beautiful painting.
-Alice has a soft voice
-John is a good worker.
+Ta dùng tính từ sau động từ “be” và các động từ nối như “ seem, feel, taste, smell, sound, become, get. Để mô tả cho chủ ngữ:
-This painting is beautiful.
-Her voice sounds soft.
-John feels good today.
b.Trạng từ tính cách:
Dùng trạng từ tính cách để mô tả cho động từ ( hành động). Chúng ta có thể đặt trạng từ chỉ tính cách ở các vị trí sau:
1.Ngay sau động từ
-Alice speaks softly.
-You paint beautifully
-John works hard
2.Sau động từ + tân ngữ:
-Alice sings the song softly.
-You paint landscape beautifully. Bạn vẽ phong cảnh đẹp
-John does his work hard.
3.Ngay trước động từ chính:
-Alice softly sings the song. Alice hát bản nhạc nhè nhẹ
-He quietly did his work. Anh ấy làm công việc của mình
-Note: Có thể dùng trạng từ tính cách trước quá khứ phân từ
Eg:The driver was badly injured in the accident.
Người tài xế bị thương nặng trong vụ tai nạn.
-His speech was well prepared. Bài phát biểu của ông ấy được chuẩn bị kĩ

I.Reported Yes/ no questions ( tường thuật câu hỏi Yes/ No)
Động từ giới thiệu: asked/ wondered/ wanted to know/ inquired ( whether) không dùng said và told.
Từ nối: if / whether
 S + asked + O + if/ whether + S + V
Eg:John said to me, “Are you thirsty?”
John asked me if I was hungry.
-He asked Mary, “Do you like coffee?”
 He asked Mary if she liked coffee. 
II.Reported information questions( tường thuật câu hỏi Wh / How) ( tường thuật câu hỏi bắt đầu bằng Wh, How)
Động từ giới thiệu: asked
 S + asked + O + Wh- / How + S + V
Eg: I asked Tam, “Who do you sit next to in class”.
I asked Tam who he sat next to in class.
--Tom asked the teacher, “ what the word meant.
Tom asked the teacher what the word meant.
-The traveler asked the policeman, “Where can I find a taxi?”
The traveler asked the policeman where I could find a taxi.
-I asked her, “How old are you”.
I asked her how old she was.
-Nếu động từ tường thuật là (say) ở thì hiện tại, thì động từ ở mệnh đề that không đổi.
Eg: John say, “ It’s raining.”
John says that it’s raining.
-Should thường được dùng thay cho động từ nguyên thể để tường thuật câu mệnh lệnh có tính khuyên bảo.
Eg:Advice: “Don’t eat sweets for a few days”.
Patients: “ The doctor told me that I shouldn’t eat sweets for a few days.
Khi mệnh đề “ that” theo sau những động từ như: ask, require, insist, demand, suggest, recommend, advise và prose thì động từ ở mệnh đề that luôn ở dạng nguyên mẫu.
Eg:I recommend/ recommened that he stay.
They suggest/ suggested that she take a vacation.
She insisted that he be admitted.
I.Sally registered for a French course. She and the secretary both asked a lot of questions. Now Sally told you about them. Report all these questions.
1. ‘What’s your name?’

III.Rewrite each of the sentences, beginning as shown, so that the meaning stays the same.

IV.Make questions for the underlined phrases.

Many learners usually underline or highlight only the words they want to learn in order to remember them better.

8.What do many learners usually do in order to remember the words better?
I.Present simple with future meaning. ( Thì hiện tại đơn với nghĩa tương lai)
Ngoài cách dùng thì hiện tại đơn để diễn tả thói quen hàng ngày. Chúng ta có thể dùng thì hiện tại đơn để nói về một hành động trong tương laikhi hành động đó nằm trongmột chương trình đã được sắp xếp, trong một thời gian biểu, hoặc trongmột lịch trình của tàu, xe , máy bay,.
Eg: “What is the program of the party next Sunday?” “ Well, the guests arrive between 5.00 và 5.30. Then, we start the party?”
(Chương trình của buổi tiệc vui Chủ nhật tới thế nào?) khách mời sẽ đến khoảng giữa 5.00 và 5.30 chiều. Sau đó chúng ta sẽ bắt đầu buổi tiệc vui.
-The plane takes off at 10.30, so we must be at the airport before 10 o’clock.
Máy bay cất cách lúc 10.30, thế nên chúng ta phải có mặt tại sân bay lúc 10h
II.Gerunds ( danh động từ)
*Geurd: Là hình thức động từ thêm đuôi “ing”, và được dùng như một danh từ: có nghĩa là chúng ta có thể dùng ( gerund) làm chủ ngữ, tân ngữ hoặc dùng sau các giới từ
Eg:Collecting stamps is a popular hobby. ( Collecting = chủ ngữ)
Sưu tập tem thư là một thú tiêu khiển phổ biến)
-My sister likes cooking. ( cooking = tân ngữ)
Chị tôi thích nấu ăn
Note: Dùng (“ gerund” danh động từ sau các động từ chỉ cảm xúc: like, love, ẹnoy, hate, dislike, start, begin
Eg: I like playing soccer.
-We love taking a walk in fine weather.
-Miss Nga enjoys teaching English at this school.
-I hate waiting for the bus.
- An dislikes doing household chores.
-Nam started practicing Karate two years ago.
--When did you begin learning English?
Note: Ngoại trừ động từ “enoy” và ‘ dislike” , tất cả các động từ trên đều có thể dùng với “ to – infinitive”
Hung started to practice Karate two years ago.
When did you begin to learn English.
III.Modals: may, can, could: Động từ khiếm khuyết: may, can, could
1.May: dùng ‘ May + bảe ìninitive’ để hỏi xin phép hoặc cho phép ai làm gì.
