1.belong to và belong with
a/Belong to: dùng để chỉ một vật nào đó thuộc sở hữu của ai đó
-This book belongs to me. Cuốn sách này của (thuộc về) tôi.
The house belongs to Jack. Ngôi nhà của (thuộc về) Jack
b/.Belong with: dùng để chỉ 1 người hoặc 1 vật là 1 phần của 1 nhóm (cùng nhóm]. Belong with chỉ sự tương đồng và cùng thể loại.
-You belong with me. Bạn thuộc về tôi. (tôi và bạn là một cặp, một nhóm thân)
-This Sherlock Homles book belongs with the detective novels. Cuốn sách Sherlock Homles này thuộc loại các tiểu thuyết trinh thám. 
-They belong with each other. Chúng cùng nhóm với nhau. (đồng hội đồng thuyền)
*To belong to somebody/something.
-The power belongs to the people. Chính quyền thuộc về nhân dân
-This farm belongs to me and it belonged to my father before me. Trang trại này thuộc về (của) tôi và trước tôi nó thuộc về bố tôi.
*Tobelong with somebody/something
-you belong with me = em thuộc về anh
-You belong to me = em là của anh
2.Belong In và Belong 
Chúng ta xem các câu trong ví dụ sau đây:
1. This picture belongs to the art room of this museum. Sai
2. This picture belongs in the art room of this museum. - Đúng
3. This book belongs in me. - Sai
4. This book belongs to me. - Đúng
Như vậy cách sử dụng belong in và belong to như thế nào?
a/Belong In: Chúng ta sử dụng belong in khi diễn tả một cái gì đó được đặt đúng chỗ hoặc một chỗ thích hợp.
Ví dụ:
- This picture belongs in the art room of this museum. - Bức tranh này thuộc về phòng nghệ thuật của bảo tàng này. (tức là đặt vào đó thì mới đúng vị trí của nó).
 * Chúng ta sử dụng belong to somebody khi muốn nói cái gì thuộc sở hữu của ai đó.
Ví dụ:
- Hoang Sa belongs to Vietnam. - Hoàng Sa là của Việt Nam (thuộc quyền sở hữu của Việt Nam)
*Chúng ta sử dụng belong to something khi muốn:
+ Diễn tả nó như là một phần của nhóm giống nhau hoặc con người.
Ví dụ:
 She belongs to 9x generation. - Cô ấy thuộc thế hệ 9x.
+Diễn tả ai đó là thành viên của câu lạc bộ hoặc tổ chức nào đó.
Ví dụ: 
-He belongs to our team. - Anh ấy thuộc về đội của chúng ta.
*Khi nó liên quan hoặc kết nối tới khoảng thời gian nhất định nào đó
Ví dụ: 
-This bowl belongs to the 16th century. - Cái bát này thuộc thế kỷ 16.
