GETTING STARTED & LISTEN AND READ

I. Objectives:

1. Knowledge, Skills, Attitude:

a. Knowledge:

- By the end of the lesson, Ss know some information about Na’s new neighborhood and communicate each other by asking and answering the questions about the neighborhood.

- Vocabulary: close by = nearly by, corner, serve, pancake, tasty, delicious, try

- Grammar: Present perfect tense.

b. Skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing

c. Attitude: Ss will be educated about the relationship with their neighborhood.

2. Capacity can be formed and developed for students

- Self-learning capability.

- Communicative competence

- Cooperation capacity

II. Preparation

1. Teacher: lesson plane, book, color chalks, pictures, cassette and tape

2. Students: books, notebooks, pen, ruler

GETTING STARTED & LISTEN AND READ
I. Objectives:
1. Knowledge, Skills, Attitude: 
a. Knowledge: 
- By the end of the lesson, Ss know some information about Na’s new neighborhood and communicate each other by asking and answering the questions about the neighborhood.
- Vocabulary: close by = nearly by, corner, serve, pancake, tasty, delicious, try
- Grammar: Present perfect tense.
b. Skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing
c. Attitude: Ss will be educated about the relationship with their neighborhood.

1. Warm up (5’)

- T asks Ss to match the names of places with the suitable pictures.
- Ss read suggested words then match them to the correct pictures.(work individually then compare the answers with a partner) 
- T checks students’ answers by asking some questions :
Ex: What is this? - It’s a grocery store.
 Is there a grocery store in your neighborhood / near your house?
- Ss answer.
I. Getting started. 
Match the names of places found in a neighborhood with the pictures.
* Ss know some places near the house.

- T introduces the next part.
- T gives students 2 questions before listening.
- Ss listen to the questions.
- T plays the tape once.

- T calls some Ss to answer the questions.
- T corrects any mistakes if necessary. 
II. Listen and read:
* Pre-listening. 
-Questions :
1. Who is new to the neighborhood? Na or Nam?
 2. Is there a restaurant in this neighborhood?
- Answers :
1. Na is new to the neighborhood.
2. Yes, it is.
- T presents new words. 
- Ss practice reading new words and give the meanings of these words.
- T corrects any mistakes if necessary.
- Ss helps Ss read the whole words again.
- T calls two Ss to read these words again.

Group 4 : parcel / Buon Me Thuot / surface / 5 kg.
- Have you ever sent a letter/ a postcard/ a parcel?
- If yes, how did you send it? by mail or airmail ?
- Which is cheaper? mail or airmail?

2. Do you often read advertisements?
3. What are they about?
- T sets up the situation.
- T explains new words and the phrases (p65).
- Ss listen and repeat.
- T has students read the advertisement and guesses the missing words.
IV. LISTEN
* Ss listen and complete some advertisements.

- Ss listen and fill in the blanks.
- Ss listen and compare their answers with their partners and guessing. Then give the answers before the class.
- T corrects if necessary.
1. Listen to the conversation. Then fill in the blank in each of the advertisement with one phrase from the box.
The answer key: 1-The Newcomer, 2-Town Ground, 3-English Speaking Contest, 4-Culture house.
- Ss read the sentences and guess T or F.
- Ss listen to the conversation again and check. Then compare the answers with their guessing.
- Ss give the answers before the class.

- T gives the definitions and gets students to find out the words as quickly as possible.
Guessing the words :
1. A person who comes to the store and buys something (customers)
2. A place where you can buy books (bookstore)
3. A place where you can buy vegetables and fruit (grocery store)

5. A place where you can come to eat (restaurant)

- T presents new-words,(use poster to show pictures, questions explanation ) guides Ss to read, asks the meaning.

c) They think the new shopping mall will take their business.
d) The stores in the mall will offer a wider selection of products, some goods are at cheaper prices.
