 Know how to distinguish the uses of infinitive and gerund in active and passive voices

 Improve pronunciation skill and grammar

OBJECTIVE: After the lesson, students will be able to:
Distinguish and pronounce the sounds /l/-/r/-/h/ in a word or a sentence exactly
Know how to distinguish the uses of infinitive and gerund in active and passive voices
 Improve pronunciation skill and grammar

1. Warm-up: Play the game “Find the words” (5’)
Think about and write the things that begin the letter /l/ /r/ /h/, at least 5 words for each letter.
Teacher asks student to work in 4 groups and write the words that begin the letter /l/, /r/, /h/.
Teacher calls on Ss to give the answers.
Teacher checks the answers
Teacher introduces the new lesson.
2. Pronunciation: 10’
Presentation 1:
Teacher helps Ss to distinguish these three sounds.
* Take notes:
- /h/: is silent when it foldows “g, k, g”, at the begiining of the words, or in the words: “honest, hour, honour”
- /r/: is silent if there in no vowel sound after it.
- /e/: is silent in the words “half, calm, talk, could”
 * Practice 1:
Listen and repeat: (page39) 
- Teacher plays the tape and asks students to repeat the words.
- Teacher calls on some students to read the words aloud and makes corrections if necessary.
Practice these sentences: (page 39)
- Teacher gives the intrustion: Read the sentences and underline the words containing the sounds / l/ , /r/ and /h/ in the textbook
- Teacher plays the tape ( 2times)
- Teacher asks Ss to read the sentences in pairs. Teacher go around to hepl them.
- Teacher calls on some Ss to read aloud.
- Teacher corrects their pronunciation and gives comments.
3.Grammar: 
Presentation 2:
Infinitive and gerund (5’)
Teacher gives the instruction: Divide class into 2 groups. Then Teacher asks Ss to work in groups in 3minutes and group 1 write some verbs that are followed by an infinitive while group 2 write some verbs that are followed by a gerund.
Teacher calls on some Ss in two groups go to the board and write down the answers.
Teacher checks the answers and reminds these words on the blackboard.
Teacher declares the winner.
*Practice 2: Exerecise 1(5’) 
Complete the sentences with the correct form, gerund or infinitive, using the words in brackets.( page 40 - SGK)
Teacher gives the instruction: Complete the sentences with the correct form, gerund or infinitive, using the words in brackets
Teacher asks Ss to work in pairs to compare their answers.Teacher goes round to control and hepls them
Teacher calls on some Ss to write their answers on the board.
Teacher makes corrections and gives explaination.
Passive infinitive (5’)
 Teacher gives Ss 2 examples for passive infinitive and gerund.
Ex1: AC: She hopes Nam to invite her to join the private club.
PP: She hopes to be invited to join the private club. 
Ex2: AC: Other people enjoy laughing at me.
PP: I don’t enjoy being laughed at by the other people.
Teacher asks Ss to give the form passive infinitive and gerund
Form : S + V + to be + Vpp
 S + V + being + Vpp
*Practice 3: Exercise 2 (7’)
Chosse the correct answers to complete the sentences. (page 40 – SGK).
Teacher gives the instruction: Chosse the correct answers to complete the sentences 
Teacher asks Ss to work in pairs to compare their answers.Teacher goes around to control and helps them
Teacher calls on some Ss to give their answers
Teacher makes correction and gives explaination.
*practice 4: Play game “Lucky Number”(7’)
 - Teacher gives the instruction: Choose the correct answers to complete the sentences.( Exercise 3/ p. 41 – SGK)
Teacher asks Ss to work in groups to compare their answers. - Teacher asks some Ss in each group choose number from 1 to 6 and give the answers and the explaination for each answer
