UNIT 12: SPORTS AND PASTIMES

Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to talk and write about their activities in free times.

Language items: 
Vocabulary: (to) wear, clothes, a stove, boots, overnight.
Grammar: Review Simple Present Tense, Adverbs of Frequency.
Teaching aids: pictures, textbook, tape.

Warm up
( 5 minutes)
Brainstorm.
-Devide class into two team.
- Ask students to go to the board and write activities in two minutes as many as possible.
- The team have more correct answers is the winner. 
- Teacher give feedback and correct.
 Ride a bike

 go to the lake
 go camping
Go the board and write activities.
Pre-reading
(10 minutes)
I.Vocabulary:
- ( to) wear (v) : mang, mặc (mime)
- clothes : quần áo (visual)
- stove : bếp lò, bếp du lịch ( picture)
- overnight : qua đêm ( translation )
- boots: đôi ủng ( picture)
Teacher elicits and models 3 times.
Ask students to repeat choral (2 times) and individual( 3 students).
Ask students to copy down.
* Checking vocabulary: Slap the board.
- Put the new words all over the blackboard.
- Devide class into two team.
- Call two teams of students to the front of the class. 
- Call out one of the new words in a loud voice.
- Students must run forward and slap the words on the blackboard.
II. Pre-questions
- Set the scene: This is Minh.
+ What does Minh like doing ?
+ Minh likes walking.
+ When ?
+ On the weekend.
+ With whom ?
+ His friends.
Listen to the teacher
Repeat choral (2 times) individual( 3 students).
Copy down
Students run forward and slap the words on the blackboard.
While- reading 
(17 minutes)
III. Answer the question. 
- Ask students to read the text then answer the question.
Ask students to play the game ”Lucky Number “:
- Devide class into two team. 
- Write 9 number on the board(1 to 8)
- Tell students each number is a questions but three of them are lucky number
- For a lucky number, students will get two mark without answering any question and they can choose another number.
- If the answer is right, that team will get 1 mark. If it wrong the other team will answer.
- Ask to teams to choose the number.
- Ask students to answer the question.

What do they always wear ?

When does he go ?
Who does he usually go with ?

Where does he often go ?

What do they take ?
* Key:
1. He likes walking.
2. They always wear strong boots and warm clothes.
4. He goes on the weekend.
5. He usually goes with his friends.
7. He often goes walking in the mountains.
9. They always take food and water and a camping stove.
IV.Listen
Set the scene : They are Nga and Lan. These are their activities. Tell me which activities.
Elicit the pictures. 
- Ask student to listen to the tape two times then match the adverbs with suitable the picture.
- Teacher give feedback.

Transformation writing.( from C6 p 132)
-Ask students to write a paragraph the same the text but change the information and change “Minh” to “I”
- Example: 
I like .. On the weekend I often .. I usually go with. Me and my friends always wear . And we always take .. Sometimes we ..
Students write a paragraph.
Homework
