A. THE OBJECTIVES

- By the end of this lesson, students can use appropriate questions when making new friends at a new school.

B. CONTENT: Vocabulary: pocket money, remember, share, help, classmate

Grammar: The present simple tense;

C. MATERIALS: English 6 textbook, questionnaire, handouts, posters

Work arrangements: Individuals, pairs, groups, T-WC

Anticipated problems: Qualities of a good friend in class (adjectives).

A. THE OBJECTIVES
- By the end of this lesson, students can use appropriate questions when making new friends at a new school.
B. CONTENT: Vocabulary: pocket money, remember, share, help, classmate

Work arrangements: Individuals, pairs, groups, T-WC

I. Warmer
- Don’t make noise. I’m studying English.
- I’m doing some research on the subject.
II. Checking the old lesson
- I do aerobics once a week.
- I like listening to music when I’m doing the washing.
- I’m not good at doing crosswords.

III. New lesson
Presentation
Guessing game
- Have Ss guess the meaning of the vocabulary.
- Tell Ss that this vocabulary will appear in the task that follow.
- Ask Ss how they often make friends, what they often say when they first meet a new friends, what questions they often ask, etc 
Individually students read and tick the questions. 
Teacher lets them discuss in groups.
Ask why or why not they ticked this or that question.
Allow students some time to write one or two more questions on a piece of paper.
Students share them with the group.
2. Brainstorming
- Teacher elicits from students the topic "qualities of a good friend"
- Divide students into 2 groups.
? Take turns to write the adjectives on the board.
- Get feedback orally to find out the winner with more corect words.
- friendly: play with classmates at break time; travel to school with classmates, remember all new classmates’ names; etc
Generous: share things with classmates; 
Helpful: help your teacher in the class; help your classmates with their homework; listen when your classmates are talking; etc
Practice
Role-play the interview
? Copy the table
- T models with a strong student (Hoa) first.
T: Do you remember all your new classmates' name?
Hoa: No, I don't.
T: Do you help your teacher in class?
Hoa: Yes, I do.
- Divide the class into groups of 4 or 5.
? Take turns to interview the other members, using the questions in section 2 P11.
- Teacher goes around and gives help if necessary.
Class presentaion
- Choose some Ss to present to the class about their good friends and why they are good friends.
Production
- Encourage Ss to give nice sentences about friendship:
1. Game: Making friends
Guess the meaning of the vocabulary:
pocket money
remember
 share
help 
classmate
Read and tick the questions you think are suitable to ask a new friend at school.
1. Are you from around here? (address)
2. Do you like pop music? (hobbies)
3. What is your favorite subject at school? (favorite subjects, hobbies)
4. Do you play football? (hobbies, free time activities)
5. How often do you go to school every day?
(means of transport)
6. Where do you go shopping?
Write one or two more questions. Then share them with the group.
2. There is a quiz for students in the new school newsletter. Read the questions.

Hoa is my best friend. She is a good student and a good friend, too. She’s friendly and helpful. She always helps our teacher in the class and her classmates with their homework. She keeps quiet when the teacher is talking. At break time she plays with us and sometimes, she travels to school with us. She is a good listener, she usually listens when her classmates are talking. She’s generous too. She always shares things with her classmates.
