Pre-reading - Elicit the new words + plough (v) cày (translation) + harrow (v) bừa (explanation) + peasant (n) nông dân (= farmer) + transplant (v) cấy (show picture) + pump (v) bơm ( context) + tobacco (n) thuốc lá ( show picture) - Read aloud all the word. - Read again and ask Ss to repeat after T. - Call on some Ss to read aloud. * Checking: Rub out and remember. II. While-reading 1. Task 1: Choose the best answer (in text book) - Ask Ss to look at the task - Explain some difficult words (if necessary) - Ask Ss to read the passage quickly and do the task (work in pairs) - Call on some Ss to give the answers - Ask Ss to give the meaning of words - Give feedack and correct 1.C: đổ chuông, reo 2. How do they feel about their lives? - Run through the questions - Ask Ss to read the passage again and do the task in 5 minutes. - Play game - Listen and give feedback + Number 1 = question 3 -> suggested answer: In the morning, he ploughs and harrows his plot of land, drink tea and smoke tobacco during his break. + Number 2 = question 4 -> suggested answer: In the afternoon, they repair the banks of their plot of land. Mr Vy pumps water into it and his wife does the transplanting. + Number 3 = Lucky number + Number 4 = question 1 -> suggested answer: He is a farmer/peasant. + Number 5 = question 2 -> suggested answer: After getting up, he goes down the kitchen to boil some water for his morning tea. + Number 6 = question 5 -> suggested answer: They are happy/contented with their lives.
