- understand and use correctly: gerund

Procedure: Time Activities 5’ 10’ 20’ 7’ 3’ Warm up Game: Hot – seat love father Guide how to play the game Monitor I. Pronounciation - Distinguish two sounds - Instruct the way to pronounce these sounds /a: / : pronounce the sound / a:/ then put your tongue down and back - long sound. /ʌ/ : first practice the sound / / then put your toungue back a little - very short sound. - Listen and repeat /ʌ/ /a:/ Cup Subject Cousin Love Wonderful Sun Father Marvellous Target Guitar Heart Stars - Practise the sentences 1.They are dancing under the stars. /a:/ /a:/ /ʌ/ /a:/ 2. I love my school very much. /ʌ/ /ʌ/ I think my cousin is lovely. /ʌ/ /ʌ/ II. Grammar * Gerund - Give the model: Model: - They enjoy going fishing. à going – gerund (V-ing) - Elicit - Ask students to list some Verbs go with Gerund and positions of Gerund in sentences. - Listen and give feedback a, Avoid, consider, mind, practise,miss, postpone/delay/put off, risk, suggest, like, love, enjoy, dislike, can’t stand/can’t help/ can’t bear, be used to, get used to, look forward to, it’s no use / it’s no good (không có ích lợi gì), be busy, be worth (đáng giá) + V-ing b, preposition (in, on, at, from, to, about ) + V-ing eg. He is interesting in reading book. c, V + money/ time + V-ing eg. I spent too much money buying clothes. Exercise 1. Complete the following sentences with a gerund: 1. She always spend much money (buy) clothes 2. The boys like ( play) games but hate ( do) lesson 3. He always think about (go) swimming 4. She dislikes (do) a lot of housework 5.
