to repeat. Task 6: Play the recording of the sentences. Ask SS to listen carefully and raise their hands when they hear the sounds /t/ and /st/. Play the recording again. Pause after each sentence and ask SS to repeat. * Conclusion: Almost all the students can know pronounce the sounds: /t/ and /st/ in isolation and in context. II. Process: Task 1: Choose a more able St to act as Vy, and read the sentences to the class. SS tock true (T)/ False (F) in the box provided. T chesks SS’ answers by reading the sentences again. Task 2: Play the recording and allow SS to check their answers. Task 3: Ask SS to look back at Vy’s sentences, find and underline all the examples of -EST. - Ask SS to different about “hottest” - Remind SS of the rule. Then give some adjs and ask if the consonant is doubled, e, g: big (yes); fast (no); wet (yes); cool (no)... Task 4: Allow SS to complete the table individually. Discuss their answers at the end Task 5: Show a map of the world. Point out Africa, Antarctica, Russia and Nepal and ask SS what they think the places are like. Eg: Do you think Africa is hot or cold? Do you think there are deserts there? Are there waterfalls there?... - Ask SS to read the passage quickly to check their answers. - Ss complete the passage with the correct words. Task 6: Prepare the slips of paper beforehand for the groups. Alternatively dictate the names of the places and allow SS to write them on the blank slips. - Demonstrate the activity with a St. turn the slips face down, take one and make a sentence about it. What does your teacher say? Task 7: Ask SS to read Vy’s note and find the uses of “must”. Refer SS back to the grammar table if necessary. Discuss the user of “must”. Point out the subject, use of modal verb and another verb, e.g. You must arrive on time. - Direct SS to look at the signs at the bottom of the page. Elicit what the “must” sentences could be, e.g. You mustn’t step on the flower;.. Task 8: Ask SS to complete the sentences. SS can share their ideas in pairs. Discuss the answers as a class. Skills: + Speaking: Role-palay being a tour guide and a tourist to prepare for a trip to the Himalayas. + Reading: Get the information from the travel guide entry. Attitude: To teach Ss to work hard and love travelling. Competences: Reading shor passage to get travel tips. II. Preparations - Materials: Textbook, pictures, visual aids, pictures. - Equipment: III. Teaching process: 1. Have you had any unforgettable experiences? - Call 2 - 3 SS to read the text. Task 2: Ask SS to use information in the test and their own ideas to fill in the “must” and “mustn’t” clumns. Task 1: Read the travel guide entry Task 2: Make a list of the thing you must to take to the Himalayas. Then add things you mustn’t take. Then discuss other features of the sentence it appears. Task 2: SS find the four words in the passage and underline them, then check their meaning. Review interesting features of VT city with Ss: Hung King Temples, Gia Cam park.. Ask SS to guest some advice. Encourage them to use Must and Mustn’t. Conclusion: Most Ss can ask and give directions. Attitude: To each Ss to work hard and love travelling Competences: Listening to get information about amazing places or atravel guide; writing a travel guide about natural attraction. II. Preparations - Materials: Textbook, pictures, visual aids. - Equipment: tape + cassette player III. Teaching process: 1. Process: - Remind Ss of the steps of the writing process: research -draft - check Task 3: Ss present their chosen places using photos/drawings maps. Choose SS to show their places to the class. Ask some questions: what natural wonders are these? How do they compare to other natural wonders? What things can you do there? What things must you do? Task 4: Ask SS to make notes about their chosen places. Remind them not to have to write full sentences. Name of the attraction 1. Where is it? 5. what is special about it? 3. How can you get there? 2. How far is it? 4. What is it like? Ask SS to share their notes with their partners. SS read out their notes (from some able SS to the whole class). SS can use the travel guide in Communication as their model. Suggest SS writes description first, then travel tips.
