Unit 14: making plans
Lesson 1: a1 - 3
P. 140 – 141 
Teaching points:
1. ask and answer about their vacations and others, plans as well.
2. write their plans for their summer vacations.
3. know how to use the structure: ‘(to) be going to + infinitive’
Preliminary activities:
Asks about the class situation.
Checks the previous learning.
Corrects homework.
Gives marks and remarks.
Presentation:
Pre – teach: 
 (to) visit, (to) stay, vacation(s), aunt(s), uncle(s), citadel(s), how long
Shows the meaning of the words. 
Asks students to repeat. Then calls some to check pronunciation.
Rubs out and remember.
2. introduces the model sentence: be going to + infinitive
 Example: I am going to visit Hue.
 Lan going to visit the citadel.
Checks use, form
Practice:
1. Plays the tape of A1for students to repeat.
2. Leaves the class to read in silence.
3. Calls some to read again to check pronunciation.
4. Shows students how to do A2:
a. What is Lan going to do? - She is going to visit Hue.
b. Where is she going to stay? – She is going to stay with her aunt and uncle.
c. How long is she going to stay? – She is going to stay for a week.
d. What is she gong to do? – She is going to visit the citadel.
Then students work in pairs or groups to find out the answers. 
Controls students working in pairs to ask and answer about the questions and answers above.
 Makes the use of the structure ‘How long’ more clearly for students. 
How long are you going to stay in Hue?
I,m going to stay for a week.
Shows students how to do A3.
Controls students to make the same conversation after asking and answering questions with each other.
Tells students write down.
If time is enough, students write – it – up the surveys changing to the third persons. 
Homework assignment:
Teacher asks students to: 
1. Write and learn by heart new words.
2. Write – it – up the surveys changing to the third persons into notebooks.
3. Do A1- 2 in the workbook.

3. the present progressive tense

4. Future: going to
Positive: I am going to wacth TV tomorrow. 
Negative: She is not going to wacth TV tomorrow.
Interrogtive: Is she going to wacth TV tomorrow?

2. Do Ex1-10 in the student’s book, test yourself in the workbook.
