I. OBJECTIVES:

- Knowledge: Students will know about vocabulary and grammar such as:

*Grammar: Simple present tense / comparative of adjective

*Vocabulary: Thanks giving, Christmas, Easter, Independence Day, review, celebrate, spend, fewer, definite

- Skills: Listening, reading skills

- Attitude: Ss will be able to talk about holidays and vacations

II.PREPARATION:

- Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, colored chalk.

- Student: Textbooks, workbooks and notebooks.

I. OBJECTIVES:
- Knowledge: Students will know about vocabulary and grammar such as:

*Warm up:
T: Asks Ss some questions before learning new lesson
Ss: Answer questions before the class
T: Today, we will learn about a student’s work
*Activity 1
T: Asks Ss to read the text silently
Ss: Read the text silently
T: Asks Ss to tell about activities in the 
pictures by asking them questions:
+Who are they?
+Who writes this letter?
+Where does Tim live?
+Who does Tim write a letter to?
+Where does Hoa live?
+What is the letter about?
T: Explains new words and the structures
Ss: Repeat and take note
T: Calls some Ss to read it before the class and correct their mistakes. Then ask Ss to read the dialogue again and answer questions
Ss: Answer them carefully
T: Checks and gives correct answers
*Activity 2
T: Asks Ss to look at the pictures and guess what the American/English holiday in each picture
Ss: Listen to the tape and write the name of holidays
T: Calls some Ss to read the answers and check the answers again. Then gives correct answers
*Questions
- What are the most important vacations in Viet Nam?
-What vacations do Vietnamese students have?
- What vacations do American student have?
- Which vacation is the longest?
2. Read. Then answer the questions.
* New words
- Hear about (v): nghe
- Find (v): tìm thấy,nhận được
- Celebrate (v): kỷ niệm,làm lễ kỷ niệm
- Spend time (v): sử dụng thời gian
- Easter (n): lễ phục sinh
- Thanksgiving (n): lễ tạ ơn
- Christmas (n) : giáng sinh
- Independence Day (n): ngày độc lập
* Structure:
more (nhiều hơn) + N
less (ít hơn) + uncountable noun
 fewer (ít hơn) + countable noun (plural)
*Keys:
a. Summer vacation is the longest in America.
b. Tim spends time with his family during his vacation.
c. Vietnamese student have fewer vacations than American ones
3. Listen. Write the name of the public holiday in each of these pictures.
* New words
- Public (n): cộng đồng
- Firework (n): pháo hoa 
- Display (n): trình bày,trưng bày
- turkey (n): thịt gà tây
- Midnight(adv): nửa đêm

4.Consolidation:
T: Asks Ss to give the date of the holidays in the year
Ss: Talk about their holidays in the year
T: Corrects their mistakes
