Procedure: Warm – up: (Getting started on P.10): Chatting - Ask Ss to look at four pictures on page 10 and talk about the activities they want to do after school or in their free time. - Give them questions: + What are these Ss doing?(play soccer/ play chess/ read books/ play volleyball) + What time of the day do you think it is?(in the mornin / evening / after school) + Do you like soccer/ reading books? + Whom do you like playing with? Presentation: * Set the scene: Do you remember Hoa? Where is she from? Where is she living now? Who does she live with? Lead in: “As you know, Hoa is from Hue. She is talking to Lan about one of her friends in Hue. Now listen and read”. *. Pre- teach vocabulary: - to seem (v) (translation) - a next door neighbor (n)(explanation): a person who lives next to your house. - to look like (v) * Checking Vocabulary: * Rub out and Remember. III. Practice: - Ask Ss to read the dialogue between Hoa and Lan on page 10. *. Comprehension questions: - Ask Ss to read the dialogue again and answer the questions in exercise 2 on page 11 (work in pairs) - Call on some Ss to ask and answer the questions. - Correct the mistakes or pronunciation - Ask them to work in closed pairs. * Answer key: a. Where does Nien live? à She lives in Hue. b. Does Lan know Nien? à No, she doesn’t. c. Which sentence tells you that Hoa is older than Nien? à “She wasn’t old enough to be in my class.” d. When is Nien going to visit Hoa? à At Christmas. IV. Production: * Make up similar dialogue: Ask students to make up a new dialogue using the original dialogue. Ask some pairs to demonstrate. Give feed back. V. Consolidation: - Focus students on vocabularies and structures. VI.
