T shows a map of Viet Nam and says: We will travel to 4 places in Viet Nam: Ha Noi, Hue, Quang Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City. Let’s travel from Northern Viet Nam to Southern Viet Nam. T shows four pictures and aks Ss to say their names. T says something more about them.Then gives 4 names and 4 places. Ss match the names with the right pictures. Drill pronunciation. T sets the scene: Tim is Hoa’s penpal in America. He and his family are going to travel around Ha Noi from Noi Bai Airport. Hoa is going to meet them. T introduces new words by showing pictures. 1.Vocabulary -water buffalo [ ˈwɔːtə(r) ˈbʌfələʊ] (n): -> A boy is riding a water buffalo. -sugar cane [ˈʃʊɡə(r) keɪn] (n) -corn [kɔː(r)n] (n) -luggage [ˈlʌɡɪdʒ](n) = suicase - photo [ˈfəʊtəʊ] (n) -> take a photo . - forty-minute drive: -> It takes them 40 minites to drive - T shows the words. - Ask Ss repeat twice - Check Ss’s reading in individual & correct the mistakes. * Checking vocabulary: Bingo Rule: There are many words in box. When the music plays, Ss pass this box to each other. When the music stops the student who is holding the box, will pick out the piece of paper and speak the word louly. 2.Pratice: True or False : - T gives some sentences, asks Ss to guess True or False and answer. a.This is the first time Hoa has met Tim’s family. b.Hoa helps Mrs. Jones with her luggage. c.The Jones family is traveling from the airport in a bus. d.Shannon has never seen rice paddies before. e.The car is traveling past farmland. f.Only rice and corn are grown around Ha Noi. - T reads the sentences aloud and call on some Ss to answer , then have them correct the false sentences and get them to write in their notebooks . =>KEY: a/ T b/ T c/ F -> in a taxi d/ T e/ T f/ F -> not only rice and corn but also sugar canes.
