UNIT 14: WONDERS OF THE WORLD 
LESSON 2: Speak & Listen
I. OBJECTIVES:
 Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to :
	- Know and understand more about famous places in Viet Nam and all over the world.
	- Develop their speaking, listening skill.
II. PREPARATIONS: Book, cassette tape
III. PROCEDURES:

1. Warm – Up: (5’)
- Have students play game “Networks”
 Famous places
2. Pre – Speaking: (8’)
- Have students look at 10 famous places in their books and tell the places that you know.
- Have students match with the information the correct places .
1. It’s in the center of Viet Nam. And it was recognized as a World Heritage in 2003 .
2. It was constructed in Paris in 1889 in the 100th celebration of French revolution .
3. It was built more than 2000 years old with the length of 4500 miles and it is the only man-made structure that can be seen from the space.
4. It’s one of the World Heritages of Viet Nam. It consits of nearly 2000 islands with magnificent caves.
5. It’s the great Clock in London which gives the GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).
6. It’s the skyscraper in New York. It was constructed in 1930 with 102 stories.
7. It’s the highest mountain in the world located in Nepal. The mountain is 8848 meters high and was named after the man who first reached the peak of the mountain.
8. It’s in central Viet Nam . The city is famous for Huong River and Bai Tho Mountain.
9. It’s currently the highest building in the world, located in Malaysia.
10. It’s the world’s first coral reefs occurred about 500 million years ago in Southern Europe.
- Call some students to match them on the board.
- Have students write a Yes / No question about each place . Ask and answer the questions with a partner.
- Introduce new structures: Direct speech " indirect speech with Yes/ No questions.
Direct : I said to / asked Hoa : “Is Eiffel Tower in Germany?”
In Direct:I asked Hoa if / whether EiffelTower was in Germany . 
=> S + V-ed + 0 + if / whether S + V + 0
3. While – Speaking: (15’)
- Have students go around the class and ask their partners .
- Call some pairs to ask and answer them in front of the class.
- In order to understand more about this grammar point. You do exercise 2(sub-board), report the activity and famous places you have done and known.
- Call some students to report them in front of the class.
4. Post – Speaking: (15’)
- Have students look at part “Listen”/ p. 133.
- Play the tape for students 2 times.
- Ask students to listen and correct the mistakes.
- Call students to read the answer.

5. Homework: (2’)
- Learn the structures.
- Prepare next lesson: Unit 14– Read/ p.134.
 - Work in groups. 
- Group works, look at 10 famous and tell the names of the places.
- Match them on the board.
