Week : 12 Period : 23 Date of preparation: 15/10/2015 Date of teaching: UNIT4:LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE Lesson 4: Write I./ Objectives: - Knowledge : At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: + know how to write a letter of inquiry to request for the information about the courses. - Skills: Reading . - Behavior: Ss work hard. II./ Preparation - Teacher: Lesson plan, pictures, . - Students: Textbooks, notebooks.. III/ Procedures: 1.Class order : Class Student’s absence 2.Revision: T: gives a letter that Nam writes to Hoa with the jumbled order and asks Ss to arrange it into the right order. Ss:Work in groups and give their orders. T: asks Ss to comment the order of the letter. 3. New lesson: Teacher and Students’ activities Contents *)Lead-in: - Teacher asks the question. - Ss listen to teacher and answer. - introduces the task of the lesson. 1.pre-writing: a)Act.1: - elicits first and says out the words - writes and asks for examples - instruct Ss to read. -Ss: - try out and repeat chorally- individually - give the meaning& make sentences - run them through & copy down. b)Act.1: - asks Ss to read the letter at P.37 to find out the outline. - gets feedback. - explains the steps more clearly by the Q. -Ss: - read it in individuals and give their ideas. - give their opinions. - read the letter and answer, and then copy down the outline. 2.while-writing: a)Act.1: - asks Ss to read the outline at P.37 again. - asks Ss to choose the advertisements at Part 5-P36 to write a letter about 80 words - goes around to instruct Ss. - gives out the cellophanes.(about 4) -Ss: - read and make sure about the contents. - use the information in the advertisements to write a letter. - write a letter for themselves. - discuss in groups, share their ideas and write their work on the cellophanes. 3.post-writing: Exhibition - Imagine that you want to attend an English summer course , using these questions : - Ask Ss to work in pairs to rewrite the above questions more politely , using : - Call on some pairs to demonstrate in front of class. Correct and give answers : - Ask them to repeat the correct answers and copy . -Are there any differences between a letter for your friends and the one for your school managers? I am very interested in learning English and I would like some more information about your institute. I can speak a little English, but I read it very slowly and my writing is bad. So I want to improve my reading and writing. Could you please provide more information about the length of courses and fees for beginners? I can supply my record of English study if necessary.
