Warm up (5') * Networks: common illness - Play the game: headache, backache, toothache, stomachache, bad cold, flu... 2. Part1. B2 – Take a survey (20’) 1. Presentation: - Show the table on BB and introduce. - Ask a student for example: + Were you ever absent from chool last semester? + Were you sick? + Did you have a cold? the flu? a headache?... - Ask Ss to work in group of four. Ask and answer and fill in the names of Ss in the group and tick the illness each student had last semester. 2. Practice: - Let them take a survey in their group. - Have them combine the result to find out the most common illness and the least common illness - Call a repesentative of each group to report the most common illness of their group. (write on BB) - Ask Ss to combine and answer: + What was the most common illness? + What was the least common illness? - Look at the BB ,listen to understand. - Listen and answer: + Yes, I was. + Yes, I was. + Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t. ... - Listen to the task. - Take a survey - Combine - Report the result of their survey. - Answer: 3. Part 2. B3- Listen (16’) 1. Pre – Listening: + Who was absent from class most due to sickness last semester? + What was wrong with you? (Which sickness did you have?) + We are going to listen to a report telling you the days’ absence due to sickness of class 7A. - Explain some words: + absence (n): sù v¾ng mÆt. + due to: v×, bëi v× + total (n): tæng sè + Now listen and fill in the table by writing the days in each column. 2. While - listening: - Have them listen and complete the table (twice) - Have them check their answer with a partner. - Have them listen again to check their answer. - Call on some to asnwer aloud. - Have them listen once again to check and correct Tape transcript: Last semester in class 7A, there was a total of 112 days’ absence due to sickness. The total breaks down as follows: most absences – 43 – due to flu. Then came stomachach problems with 37. Toothache came next with 17. Colds accounted for 10 absences. Finally, headache caused 5 days’ absence. - Explain some more words: acount for: chiÕm (trong tæng sè) cause (v): g©y ra 3. Post listening: + What was the most common illness that students in class 7A had last semester? + What was the least common illness? + Was cold the most common illness of your class? Þ Compare with the result of the survey B2 and remark. - Answer teacher’s questions. - Listen to the introduction. - Listen, repeat and coppy. - Listen to the task. - Listen and complete the table by themselves. - Check the asnwer with their friends. - Listen again to check. - Answer. - Check and correct.
