Presentation (15’) + Activity 1: - Ask Ss some questions 1. What sports do you like? 2. Do you like playing table tennis? + Activity 2: - Show Ss a picture and ask: What are Nam and ba doing? - Have Ss listen to the tape two times. - Introduce the structure Modal verbs : Can - Must - Have to - Ought to - Might . + Affirmative : S + modal verb + V ( bare ) + Negative : S + modal verb (not or do not ) + V (bare ) (can’t , mustn’t , mightn’t , shouldn’t , oughtn’t to , don’t have to , doesn’t have to ) + Interrogative : Can , Must , Should + S + V (bare ) ? Ought + S + to + V (bare ) ..? Do/Does+ S + have to + V (bare )? - Listen and answer the questions - Look at the picture and answer the question - Listen - Take note 3. Practice (12’) + Activity 1: - Have Ss work in pair to practice the dialogue - Call some pairs play the roles of Nam and Ba before class + Activity 2: - Let them ask and answer the questions. - Call Ss to get feedback Answer key: a. He ought to finish his homework. b. Nam will be ready in a few minutes. c. Ba will finish a question for Math. d. Ba has two paddles - Work in pair to practice the dialogue - Work in group to find out the answers. 4. Production (10’) + Activity 1: - Have Ss listen to the tape two times. - Have students practice the dialogue part 2/ p. 135 in pairs. - Call some students to practice before the class. - Ask students to change the underlined details using the information in the box. - Call some pairs to practice before the class. - Listen and correct. + Activity 2: - Have students make own dialogue using the picture and the words in part 2/ p. 135. - Call some pairs to practice before the class. - Listen to the tape - Work in pairs. - Practice. - Work in pairs. - Give the answer and read it aloud. - Listen. - Work in pairs. - Practice. 5.
