PASSAGE 2
George Smith is 40 years old. He has worked in a factory (2.1)... 30 years. One day he is told that a new machine has been installed which does his job (2.2).. He is no longer needed. Elizabeth Blackwell was born in England in 1821, and (3.1) to New York City when she was ten years old. One day she decided that she wanted to become a doctor. SAVING ENERGY IN THE OFFICE

When I was sixteen I (5.1).school and went to work in a butcher’s shop. The manager was a young man, only a few years older (5.2).me, and he was very ambitious, also, he was a bit dishonest. Face-to-face conversation is two-way process: You speak to me, I reply to you and so on. The traditional definition of literacy is considered to be the ability to read and write, or the ability to use language to read, write, listen, and speak.
