A. THE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to:
- Read for specific information about some schools.
- Practice speaking about the school they would like to go to.
- Improve their reading and speaking skills.
B. CONTENT: Vocabulary: boarding school, overseas, school garden, playground, modern equipment, join, clubs, creative, surrounded, international, etc
Grammar: The present simple tense;
C. MATERIALS: English 6 textbook, questionnaire, handouts, posters
Work arrangements: Individuals, pairs, groups, T-WC
Anticipated problems: Qualities of a good friend in class (adjectives).

PROCEDURE 6A: 6C: 5’ I. Warmer Shark attack Places where children go to and have interesting lessons. SCHOOLS II. Checking the old lesson 5’ 10’ 5’ 5’ 10’ III. New lesson Pre-reading Pre-questions Look at the pictures. What do they tell you about schools? How many schools are there? What are they? What types of schools do you know? What activities/ facilities would you like to know about these schools? Students work on their own first, then they share in the groups. Teacher gets feedback. While-reading Guessing the meaning of the words in context. - Have Ss guess the meaning of the vocabulary. Grids - Ask Ss to read the text and complete the table. Individually Ss read & fill in the table. Teacher lets them discuss in groups. Students share the answers with the other groups. Gap-filling Get students to read the text again and find words to finish the sentences. Ask students to note where they found the information that helped them complete the sentences. Students work on their own first. They share and compare their answers with a partner. Get some students to read the completed sentences aloud. Pre-speaking - Teacher asks students to refer back to the three schools. Give some background of the schools: PLC Sydney: a boarding school for girls from kindergarten to An Lac Lower Secondary School: a small school in a mountainous region in Bac Giang Province, Vinabrita school: an international school for students from year 1 to - Allow students time to answer the questions: - Ask Ss to complete the table in their notebooks. While-speaking - Divide the class into groups of 4 or 5, let them discuss their answers to the questions, and give reasons. - Ask some Ss to talk to the class, then the class give their comments on their friends’ content, pronunciation, fluency, language, body language, etc. - Discuss any common errors and provide further practice if necessary I.
