By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to:
- Use the lexical items related to the topic "My home";
- Use preposition of place and There is/ There isn’t/ There are/ There aren’t correctly and appropriately to ask about and describe houses, rooms and furniture.
B. CONTENT: Vocabulary: houses lexical items
Grammar: The present simple tense; There is/ There are; prepositions of place
C. MATERIALS: course book, questionnaire, handouts, posters, CD, CD player
Work arrangements: Individuals, pairs, groups, T-WC
Anticipated problems: a variety of vocabulary and activities; it may take longer time.

New lesson Presentation Lead-in - Ask students what “home” means to them. Teacher explains that “home” can have different meaning. It can be the house or apartment where you live or can refer to a family living together. - Introduce Mi and Nick, they are pen friends. Let students open their books and start the lesson. Getting started: A look inside Pre-teach: Eliciting: visuals, miming, explanation Modeling, choral & individual repetition Written record; Pronunciation Checking: Slap the board Presentation dialogue: - Set the scene: Look at the picture. What are Nick and Mi doing? (talking on Skype = a system that allows you to make telephone calls using your computer and the Internet.) Do you have any recent experiences of chatting online? What do you often talk about when you chat online with friends? Do you often talk about the place you live? Look at the picture and guess what the conversation might be about/ guess what Mi and Nick might be talking about. - Play the recording twice. Students listen and read. Practice a. Which family members does Mi talk about? First, ask students to give the answers without reading the conversation again. Ask them to read the conversation again and check their answers. Confirm the correct answers. b. Complete the sentences. Students work independently. Allow them to share answers before discussing as a class. Write the correct answers on the board. Presentation 2. Match the prepositions with the pictures - Ask students to look at the pictures. They are about the positions of the dog/cat. - Ask students if they know the prepositions in the box. - Have students do this exercise in pairs. - Ask for students’ answers. - Work in pairs to ask and answer the questions about the position. Where is the dog? - It’s on the chair. Practice 3. Write a sentence to describe each picture in 2. Let students write the sentences individually, then share the sentences with a friend. Call on some students to write their answers on the board. Check the sentences with the whole class. 4. True or False? Correct the false ones. Ask students to look at the picture of the room and do this exercise individually. Students share their answer with a partner. Confirm the correct answers. 5. Look at the picture again. Whichever team raises their hands first will answer the question. If their answer is correct, give them 1 point. If it isn’t, the other team have the right to answer. Record points on the board.
