Scott /learn/ play works/ composers/ Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart /as well as/ compose/ music. 3. He/ quickly /become /famous. 4. Scott was born in Texas in 1886, into a poor but musical black family. He learnt play music when he was very young. Scott learnt to play the works of composers like Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart as well as to compose music. He quickly became famous. His tunes were wonderful mixture of classical European and African beats which was known as Ragtime. All in all he wrote 50 piano rags, and was called the King of Ragtime. Scott Joplin died in 1917. -Asks Ss to count from 1 to 6 then makes group of person who has the same number. - asks sts to use the simple past tense to do the task. -Ask Ss to writer the answer on the paper then put in on the extra –board (each group writes a sentence) -Check these answers with the whole class. In each answer ask Ss to point out what kind of information and phrases that need to write a profile of a person. - give Ss some notes. - count from 1 to 6 then find out person who has the same number to make group. -Work in group -Look at six sentences on the textbook and complete them Write the answer on the paper. state the information and phrase. take note II. While writing 18’ - task 2: write the life story of Van Cao using the prompts in the textbook. - Suggested answer: Van Cao was born in Nam Định on November 15, 1923, into a poor workers’ family. He started composing music when he was very young. He wrote the first song in 1939 and then quickly became famous. Tien Quan Ca, the National Anthem of Vietnam was written by Van Cao in 1944. Van Cao not only wrote songs and poems but also draw paintings. He died on July 10, 1995. Van Cao is known as a very talented musician and highly appreciated by the Vietnamese people. - Asks Ss to open the text book and turn on page 129, Task 2. - Divides the class to 4 groups. - Gives Ss 10’ to write the life story Van Cao - Goes around the class to help Ss if necessary. - After 10 minutes, asks each group to exchange their writing with other groups -Asks sts to correct together by pencil in 5 minutes. - Asks Ss to look at the paragraph and correct all mistakes of spelling and grammar. - chooses a group to check with whole class. -Shows a sample paragraph - Open the textbook, page 129, Task 2. - Work in groups. - Write a paragraph of the story into the paper on the prompt. - Ask T when having some troubles. - After finishing, change the work with another group and correct the mistake of their friends by pencil. - Talk about mistake they find out. - Take note if necessary.
