-Do you think learning new words by heart is difficult?
-How can you memorize new words in English?
- Introduce new words:
There are many good ways to remember new words for a long time. Today we will read a passage about how to memorize new words. First you have to copy some new words.
Model and explain these words
-Have sts read the passage silently.
-Have sts prepare the answers in pairs.
-Call some sts to practice asking and answering the questions in front of the class.
-Correct the answers. 
-Answer the questions.
-Listen to the teacher’s introduction and copy the words.
-Practice reading the words chorally and individually.
Give the meaning
-Read the text to have the main idea.
-Discuss in groups.
-Compare the answer with the other groups.
-Read out the answers.
-Copy the correct answers.

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know the format of a friendly letter and practice writing a letter to a friend. 
- Focus on reading skills.

III. Procedures:

2. Cheking the previous lesson:

Dear Donna,
 Thanks for your letter. I am very pleased to hear that you had a happy Mother’s day.
 I received my second semester report last month. I got good grades for Geography, Physics and Math, but my English and History results were poor. My teacher told me to improve English and History. I think I’ll have to study harder next school year.
 In a few weeks, we’re going to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. That’s a moon festival in Autumn or Fall in Viet Nam. I am going to Ha Long Bay with my aunt and uncle by bus this afternoon and I’m going to stay there with them until after the festival. I’ll send you a postcard from there.
