GETTING STARTED – LISTEN AND READ
Objectives:
- By the end of the lesson sts can read and understand the content of the dialogue and answer the questions
 Grammar: Review the future with: be going to + V
- Focus on developing listening, speaking and reading skills.
Teaching aids: Picture, real object in subject.
Procedures:

- Have Ss look at the pictures in their books and call names of those in Vietnamese.
- Asks Ss if they know names of things in the picture in English.
- Call on representations of groups to answer.
- Gives the correct answers (if Ss have mistake) then asks Ss question(s)
- Talks about the lesson’s topic and asks Ss to remind something about that (way to : read telephone numbers, make and answer a call)
- Introduces the lesson. 
- Ss look at the pictures in their books and call names of those in Vietnamese.
- Some representations of groups answer.
- Copy the correct answers 
- Listen the lesson’s topic and Ss remind something about that (way to : read telephone numbers, make and answer a call)
- Listen to teacher’s introducing. 
1 .Warm – up.

Rub out and remember
-Point to the Vietnamese translations and rub out English words.

* Listen and read :
1, Practice the dialogue with a partner.
2, Read the dialogue again . Decide who did and said each of the following things 
a) Nga made the call
b) Nga introduced herself
c) Nga invited the other to the movies
d) Nga arranged a meeting place.
e) Hoa arranged the time.
f) Nga agreed to the time.
 - Has Ss practice a similar dialogue (Ss change persons’ names, telephone numbers, the dialogue’s content, ) 
- Call some students and ask them to do the exercises, then check and correct the mistakes. 
- Can give marks
- Ss practice a similar dialogue (Ss change persons’ names, telephone numbers, the dialogue’s content, )
- Practice with partner.
4. C0nsolidation:
Ex:
- Nga: 3 864 975
- Hoa: Can I speak to Hoa, please? This is Hoa.
- Nga: Hello Hoa.
- Hoa: I’m going to. 
- Ask students to learn vocabulary by heart 
- Have them practice the dialogue at home and prepare Unit 2 “Speak + Listen” for the next period.) 
- Take notes and memorize
- Do as the teacher suggests. (-Practice the dialogue at home.

When we talk about Alexander graham bell, what words about this man appear in your mind? 
 - Continue to introduce the new lesson:“Alexander Graham Bell was the person who invented the telephone in 1876. Today you will read a passage about him. First you have some new words”
Give Ss some new words which are in the lesson.
- Has Ss read new words 
- Introduces content of the lesson and guides how to do exercise 1.
-Present T/F statements on the board and ask Ss guess which statements are true and which are false. 
- Ss look at the picture, then answer T’s questions.
