UNIT 11	TRAVELING AROUND VIET NAM 
Lesson 5	WRITE
I. Objectives:
 Helping Ss practice in writing a narrative using a guided composition. 
 Developing writing skill and Ss will be able to know how to write a narrative.
II/ Language contents:
1. Vocabulary: 
decide, paddle, canoe, hire, cloud, rescue, lean over, over turn, deep, stumble, go off, strangely, pool.
2. Grammar: Simple past tense.
III/ Techniques:
Brainstorming, discussion, 
IV/ Teaching aids:
Picture, handouts, textbook
V. Procedures:
Teacher’s activities
1. Warm up:
- Which word?
- Put the missing words in a box on the board and have students study first.
- Show the chart and ask Ss to fill in the gaps with the words given on the box.
* A narrative is a sequence of .these events are usually..in chronological order and often lead to a  . The first sentence of a narrative should get the read’ shift .. and the ending should be . ./
- Explain the definition in Vietnam
2. Pre-Writing:
- Have Ss look at the pictures and guess the meaning of the new words.
- Write the vocabulary on the board and ask Ss to match them.
1. To stumble: reng lên
2. To go off: nhận ra
3. To realize: trượt chân
- Ask Ss to look at the pictures again and rearrange the events in the correct chronological order to make it a story.
- Call on some Ss to give the answers.
3. While-Writing :
-Ask Ss to use the picture already rearranged and the given words to write the story about Uyên.
- Help Ss with words or structures while they are writing.
4. Post-Writing
- Give feedback and correct.
- Tell Ss notice the simple past tense is often used in a narrative.
Answer Key: Uyen had a day to remember last week. She had a Math exam on Friday but she got up late. She realized her alarm clock did not got off. As she was leaving home, it started rain heavily. Uyên try to run as fast as she could. Suddenly she stumbled against a rock and fell on the road. Her school bag went into a pool of the water and everything got wet. Strangely, the rain stopped as she got to her classroom. Luckily, Uyên had enough time to finish her exam.
