+ To help students read for details about making plans for a vacation abroad
+ To enable the students to use the progressive tense with “always” and the structure “would like”

+ By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to be aware of how to make accept and decline invitations
+ To help the students practise completing the schedule and answering the questions according to the dialogue.

Lead-in: a/ Sets the situation: Has the sts play the game “matching” - Divides the class into two groups: group A and group B. Shows some pictures in the textbook on page 111 and some name of the countries. Then asks the sts to match which country it is in pairs. Then has the sts tell their partners which country they would like to visit and why A: Which country do you want to visit? B: I’d like to visit Thailand. A: Why? B: Because Thailand has a lot of beautiful old pagodas. Calls on some pairs to ask and answer. Asks the sts to answer “Have you ever been to the United states of America?”. b/ Presents the new lesson : - Introduces the new lesson: Today, to know more about a plan go abroad of Mrs.Quyen. Welcome to unit 12: A Vacation Abroad, period 73: Getting started + listen and read. 2. Pre – practice a. Teaches new words: Teaches some new words: + include (v) [ synonym] = consist of : bao gồm, kể cả + come over (v) [explanation]:come to someone’s house to visit for short time : ghé thăm + pick someone up (v) [ explanation ] : to come and get someone in your car to drive him or her to plane :đón ai + tour (n) [synonym] = trip: chuyến du lịch . +business meeting (n) [translation] : buổi họp kinh doanh Asks the sts to repeat the new words after the teacher chorally and individually. Checks the students’ understanding of new words by playing a game “rub out and remember”. b. Teaches structure: Present progress tense with always: Sets the scene: He lost his keys yesterday. He is always losing his keys. * Form : S + am / is / are + always + Ving Usage: to express a complaint and an unpleasant action - Asks the sts to give some more examples to illustrate the structure above. Guiding questions : - Asks the sts to skim the dialogue and then predict T/ F statements : a. Mrs Quyen is calling Mrs Smith from the airport in San Francisco (T/F) b. Mrs Smith invites Mrs Quyen and her husband to stay with her while they are in town (T/F) c. Mrs Quyen doesn’t accept Mrs Smith’s invitation because she wants to stay with a Vietnamese friend of hers (T/F) d. Mrs Quyen and her husband will be in the USA for 3 days (T/F) e. Mrs Quyen and her husband will come over to Mr Smith’s place for dinner one night (T/F) f. Mr Thanh , Mrs Quyen’s husband gets abroad for a business meeting (T/F) - Asks them to predict in pairs. 3. Controlled-Practice: *Listen and read - Has the sts listen to cassette player twice. - Gets the sts to check their prediction. - Corrects their mistakes if necessary - Asks the sts to practice the dialogue in pairs. - Calls on some pairs to practise in front of the class. - Corrects their pronunciation if possible. - Has them listen to the tape the last one - Asks the sts to read the dialogue again and complete Mr Quyen’s schedule by working pairs - Calls on some sts from each group to complete. - Gives feedback and corrects if possible Date Mon 25 Tues 26 Wed 27 Thu 28 Schedule coming to San Francisco Going out having dinner with The smiths leaving San Francisco Gets the sts to read the dialogue again and then answer the questions in pairs.
