Procedure: Time Content Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 10’ Warm-up: Task 1: Play game: Hangman Draw strokes on the board. Each stroke stands for a letter of the word. Students take turn to guess the letters of the word. If a student's guess is not right, the teacher draws a stroke (according to the order in the picture). If student guess wrong eight times, they lose. Answer keys: a/ grocery store b/ stadium c/ wet market d/ drugstore e/ hairdresser’s f/ swimming pool Task 2: Read the dialogue and find key words *New words - area (n): part of place - serve (v): give someone food or drink - pancake (n): made from mixture of flour, eggs and milk that is fried on both sides. - tasty (adj) = delicious *Rub out and remember - Rub out the new words one at a time - When all the words are rubbed out, go through the Vietnamese list and get Ss to call out the English words. - If there’s time, get Ss to come to the board and write the English words again. T guides Ss to play a game “Hangman” T gives the answer. - T gives Ss some new words - T explains new words, guides Ss to read. - T uses the technique: “Rub out and remember” to check Ss’ new words. - Ask Ss to repeat chorally the words before and after you rub out each word. Ss listen and play the games. - Ss listen and repeat chorally then individually. Then copy new words in their notebooks. - Ss repeat chorally the words before and after T rubs out each word. 25’ While – Listen and Read: Task 3: Listen and read (Dialogue on page 63) Task 4: Read the dialogue carefully and answer the questions - How long has Nam lived in that neighborhood? - When has Na been there? *Answer keys - He has lived there for 10 years. - Na has been there since last week. 1/ Practice the dialogue with a partner. 2/ Complete the sentences. Use words from the dialogue. *Answers a. new b. last week c. tired d. restaurant e. Hue f. pancakes Task 5: Give the structure of the present perfect tense Structures - We have lived here for 10 years. - We have been here since last week. *The present perfect tense with for and since. S + have/ has + V-ed/ V3 + since/ for Since: dùng cho 1 mốc thời gian. For:dùng cho 1 khoảng thời gian. Ex: - She has learnt English for 3 years - They have been here since January. - T sets the scene: “Nam and Na are talking about the place where they live. But Na is new there.” - Ask Ss listen and read the dialogue - T asks Ss to read the dialogue at the same time silently then answer the question - T calls some pairs to practice the dialogue in front of the class. - T corrects Ss’ pronunciation. - T asks Ss to complete the sentences. - T explains some structures in the dialogue, gives examples to illustrate. - T explains the usage of for and since in the present perfect tense. - T writes the form on the board. - Ss listen and read the dialogue - Ss read the dialogue at the same time silently and answer the question - Ss work in pairs in 2 minutes. - Ss practice the dialogue in front of the class. - Ss work in pairs in 3 minutes then some Ss write the answers on the board. - Ss pay attention to the teacher then copy. - Ss observe then copy. 8’ Post – Listen and Read: Task 6: Answer the questions about the dialogue *Questions a/ Is Na’s mother tired? →Yes. Her mother is too tired to cook. b/ What kind of food does the restaurant serve? →It serves Hue food. c/ What is the food like? →It is delicious. Task 7: Ask about Ss’ neighborhood *Questions 1/ How long have you lived in your neighborhood? 2/ Do you like it? Why? 3/ Is there a restaurant / post office/ market/ bank/ shop in your neighborhood? 4/ What do you do to keep you neighborhood clean? Ss’ answers Task 8: Give the correct form of the verbs. 1. I (be) here for more than one hour. 2. She(learn) English since 1990 3. I(live) in Hanoi for 10 years. *Answers: a. have been b. has learnt c. have lived - T asks Ss some questions to check their understanding. - T asks Ss some questions about their neighborhood. - Then some pairs ask and answer the questions in front of the class. - T asks Ss to give the correct form of the verbs. - Ss answer the questions - Ss work in pairs in 2 minutes. - Ss write the answers on the board. Consolidation: (2’) Teacher retells the places in a neighborhood and the structures in the lesson.
