I. Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know how to use first-aid in some situations such as fainting, shock, burns

-Ask some questions to focus on the lesson:
+What will you do when someone have a shock / a burn?
-Introduce the lesson: 
“ Today we will learn about 3 emergency situations: fainting, shock, and burns. Before you read the reading, you have to study some new words.”
-Guide sts to read the words chorally and individually.
“Now you read the reading and choose the correct case for the treatments mentioned in the book.”
-Go around the class for help.
-Call some sts to tell about the treatments in each situations.
-Give comments and correct answers.
-Ask sts what will they do when a person have a fainting, shock, burns.
- Have ss learn by heart new words; read the text and memorize the treatments in the 3 emergency situations.
-Prepare “Write” fpr the next period.
-Answer the questions.

Choose a correct case for each of the following treatments.
A. Fainting: 
 a. The victim should not sit or stand.
 c. The victim’s head should be below the level of the heart.
 e. The victim should drink a cup of tea when reviving.
B. Shock 
 b. Victim can’t not drink wine or beer.
C. Burns 
 d. You should ease the pain with ice or cold water pack.

* Should:
- Leave the patient lying flat
- Give the victim a cup of tea when he/ she rev
* Shouldn’t:
- Force him/ her to sit or stand
- Give the victim any food or drink

	By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a thank you letter to their friends for what they did.

-Ask some questions to lead the sts into the lesson:
+Do you usually write or receive thank-you notes?
+On which occasions?
“In daily life, we usually write thank-you notes to relatives and friends. In this lesson, we will learn how to write a thank-you letter. Firstly, you look at the letter Nga sent to Hoa after she left the hospital.”
-Ask sts to complete the letter by using the correct forms of the verbs in brackets.
-Call some sts to read the complete letter in front of the class.
-Explain some new words.
“Now you write a letter to a friend to express your thanks for what he / she has done for you. In the letter, you invite your friend to go on a picnic with you and arrange to contact your friend. Use the questions in your book to guide your writing.”
-Go around the class for help.
-Have sts exchange the letters and remark.
-Choose a letter and correct it in front of the class.
-Guide sts to use the same format to write another letter to another friend for other occasions.
- Have ss write the letter again; learn by heart new words; memorize the format and the language used in an informal letter and prepare “Language focus” for the next period.
-Answer the questions.
