I. Objectives

By the end of the lesson , sts will be able to persuade someone to do the following the things to protect the environment and complete the information notes about Ocean pollution through a report

II. Language content

1. vocabulary: dissolve , exhaust fume , sewage, drop , deliberate .

2. grammar : use the structure

-Asks sts to read the persuading expressions and the idea cues given in the textbook carefully,make sure sts understand all of the ideas suggested
-Lets sts work in pairs persuading their partners to do things to protect the environment. Follow the Example
1a/. A: I think it would be better if we use banana leaves instead of paper or plastic bags to wrap food
B: why? How come?
A: Because plastic bags are very hard to dissolve, they will cause pollution and if we use less paper, we can save trees in the forests. That’s how we can save the environment.
-Calls some pairs to practice with ideas in the box
-Corrects mistakes if nessesary
*b/Sticks the poster of the questionaire on the board and asks sts to work in groups answering them

* Questions and answers
1/ How can we save paper?- we can save paper by recyling and reusing paper , using tree leaves to wrap food and other things
2/ How can we use fewer plastic bags?- We shouldn’t use too much package for food and other things
3/ How can we reduce water pollution? – we shouldn’t throw trash into water. We should also clean lakes, rivers and beaches
4/ How can we prevent littering?- we can prevent littering by putting more garbage bins in public places.
5/ How can we prevent air pollution?- We can use more public transport
6/ How can we reduce the amount of garbage we produce?- We should try to reuse and racucle things
-Tells sts to discuss with a partner the best way to protect the environment
-Calls some groups to present their ideas
Ex: A: I think we should burn trash to reduce the amount5 of garbage. We produce to protect the environment
B: No, we shouldn’t do that. Burning trash will pollute the air. I think the best way to reduce garbage is to reuse and recycle things.
A: How can we do that? I think only the factory can
B: What about collecting used paper, bottles and cans every day? It’s not difficult
A: That’s a good idea! Let’s do that
* LISTEN
-Sets the sence “ you are going to listen to a report on how our oceans are polluted”
-Asks sts to read the notes and guess the words or phrases to complete the table
- plays the tape twice . asks sts to check their predictions 
- Calls some sts to correct mistakes

HOW THE OCEAN IS POLLUTED
Firstly:raw sewage is pumped directly into the 
 Sea
Secondly : Garbage is dropped into the sea
Thirdly: oil spills come from ships at sea
Next: waste materials come from factories
Finally: oil is washed from the land
* tape transript : “ teacher’s book”
-Tells sts to work in groups and make a short passage about how the ocean is polluted
-Calls some sts to present before class
-Gives assignments and comments
