I. Aims:
Through this unit, students will be able to:
- make conversation with a partner easily
- know how to arrange conversations sensibly

* Warm-up:
- Give a situation and write a short conversation on the board
Situation: suppose that you meet a friend at the supermarket, you are very busy. How will you say to open and end the conversation? 
- Give a short conversation:
A: . (1)
B: Hi, Lan. How are you?
A: I’m fine. Thanks. And you?
B: I’m fine. Let’s go somewhere for a drink
A: Sorry, . (2)
- Lead in the new lesson: Ok, that’s a short conversation between A and B
(1) & (2) are two ways to start and close a conversation
Today, we will practice speaking conversation having stating and dosing sentences
I. Pre-speaking: 
- Elicit the new words:
+ matter (n) việc, vấn đề 
+ awful (adj) khủng khiếp
+ headache (n) bệnh đau đầu
+ backache (n) bệnh đau lưng
+ toothache (n) bệnh đau răng
- Read aloud all the word. 
- Read again and ask Ss to repeat after T. 
- Call on some Ss to read aloud. 
* Checking: Rub out and remember.
II. While-speaking
1. Task 1: These expressions are commonly used when people are chatting. Place them under the appropriate heading then practice with a partner
- Give instruction
- Introduce some expressions that we can use to start and close a conversation
- Ask student to place the expressions under the appropriate heading
- Ask student to work individually then work in groups
- Call on some Ss to go to the board and write down the answers
- Give feedback:
* Starting a conversation: 
- Good morning
- How’s everything at school?
- Hello. How are you?
- Hello, what are you doing?
- Hi, how is school?
* Closing the conversation:
- Sorry. I’ve to go. Talk to you later
- Well. It’s been nice talking to you
- Goodbye. See you later
- Great. I’ll see you tomorrow. Catch up with you later
2. Task 2: Rearrange the following sentences to make a conversation and then practice it with a partner
- Ask students to rearrange the sentences to make a conversation
- Ask students to work individually then in pairs
- Walk around the class to help student when necessary
- Check and give suggestions

Quan: Hi, Minh. Did you have a nice weekend?
Minh: Hello, Quan. Yes, I did. It’s great.
Quan: What did you do?
Minh: I went to Lan’s birthday party. The food was good and the people was interesting. What did you do, Quan?
Quan: Oh, I stayed at home and did my homework. Nothing special.
Minh: What are you going now?
Quan: I’m going to the library to borrow some books. Sorry, I’ve got to go. Talk to you later
Minh: Bye. See you later.
- Call some pairs to present
- Listen and correct students’ pronunciation if necessary
3. Task 3: Complete the following conversation with suitable words, phrases or sentences in the box and then practice it with a partner
- Ask students to complete the conversation with suitable words
- Ask students to read all words in the box
- Give the meaning of some words when necessary
- Ask students to work individually then work in pairs
- Walk around the class to help students when necessary
- Check and give suggestions
-> Suggested conversation:
 A: Hello, Hoa. You don’t look very happy. What’s the matter with you?
 B: Hi, Nam. I feel awful. I’ve got a headache.
 A: Sorry to hear that. You’d better go home and have a rest.
 B: Yes. That’s a great idea. Goodbye, Nam.
 A: See you later.
- Correct the Ss’s pronunciation when necessary
III. Post-speaking
Task 4. Make a small talks on the topic: plans for next weekend
- Model a conversation
 Hoa: Hi, Lan. What are you going to to next weekend?
 Lan: Hi, Hoa. I am going to visit my grandparents. How about you, Hoa?
 Hoa: Oh, I am going to attend an English club in my school. 
 Lan: Well. It seems interesting. Sorry, I have got to go now. Talk to you later.
 Hoa: Bye. See you later.
- Ask Ss to make a similar conversation.
- Have some pairs to talk
- Listen and give feedback
