I. Objectives:

1. Education aims:

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know what can endanger to National Parks in Vietnam and in the world.

- Students can recognize the importance of natural conservation.

2. Knowledge:

a) General knowledge: Students can know special features of Cuc Phuong National Park in Vietnam as well as some famous national parks in the world.

b) Language:

- Vocabulary about National Parks.

- Ways to describe a place.

3. Skills:

- Reading: Read for general information as well as specific details by using skimming and scanning skills.

- Guess the meaning of the words in contexts.

- Discuss in groups and in pairs to do the tasks.

I. WARM - UP: KIM’S GAME

- T shows the name of the game to class: “Kim’s Game”.
- T divides class into 2 teams: A and B
- T gives instruction: “I will show you list of words on the screen. You have 30 seconds to see and remember these words. Then, you will go to the board and rewrite these words in 1 minute. Remember 1 student - 1 word. After 1 minute, which team has more correct answers will be the winner”.
- Ss listen carefully to the teacher.
- T checks ss’ understanding:
+ Will you have 2 minutes to rewrite the words on the board?
+ Can 1 student write 2 words?
+ How long?
+ Do you work in group or in pair?
- Ss answer T’s questions.
- Ss join in the game.
- Time is off, T asks Ss to show their answers
- Ss go to the board and write the answers
- T corrects with Ss

J Set the scene:
“Most of us know the park, and today we will learn about the bigger park where conserve lots of animals and trees. It is NATIONAL PARKS”
“Many of you haven’t ever been to a national park. Today, we visit Cuc Phuong and two famous national parks in the world through Unit 11 – National Parks, lesson Reading”
- T asks ss one by one question.
- T elicits ss to answer the questions.
- Ss answer one by one question.
- From ss’ answers, T sets the scene.

II. PRE – READING:
* Pre – teach vocabulary:
- rainforest (n): rừng nhiệt đới (picture) 
- orphan (n): trẻ mồ côi 
(explanation: children have no parents)
à orphanage (n): trại trẻ mồ côi
- abandon (v): bỏ rơi (synonym with give up) 
- wilderness (n): vùng hoang vu
(picture + explanation: a place that no one lives) 
- temperate zones (n): vùng ôn đới (translation)
- toxic (n): chất độc
(explanation: cholesterol, 3MCPD, chất bảo quản)

*Pre- activity: Prediction:
“Imaging, you are in the national park, What can you see?”

 Study lots of things such as caves, mountains, the 1000-year-old tree 
- T elicits new words for ss through vocabulary teaching techniques.
- Ss guess the words.

- Ss repeat them chorally and individually.

- T asks ss to copy down new words into their notebooks.
- Ss take notes. 
-T gives instruction: “I have some phases here, You will work individually in 2 minutes to think which one that belong to the national park, put the tick √ , if not, put the tick X”.

Two teams will take turns to choose an animal. If you answer correctly, you’ll get 10 marks for your team. If not, no mark for your team. If you choose “Lucky animal”, you’ll get 10 marks and don’t need to answer. The winner is the team who gets higher marks”.

- Ss listen carefully.

IV. POST – READING: INTERVIEW
* Which of the three national parks would you like to visit most? Why?
 Examples:
-Which of the three national parks would you like to visit most?
→ I like to visit Cuc Phuong National Park
- Why do you like to visit Cuc Phuong National Park?
 → Because I can look at the 1,000-year-old tree.
- T asks Ss to work in pair in 3 minutes
- T gives instruction: “In pair, one ask and one answer the question, then change the role. You can base on the answers of the game in your handouts to find the answer
- T checks ss’ understanding: 
“Do you work individually or in pair?
Will you ask and answer the question?
How long?” 
- T gives an example.
- Ss listen carefully, follow T’s instruction and do the exercise.
- T goes around the class to help ss if necessary.
- After 3 minutes, T calls some ss from some pair come to share their answers.
- Ss present their answers.
- T checks and gives feedback.

- Review the reading passages.
